Zlatan Ibrahimovic: A Statue and a New Contract

Zlatan Ibrahimovic the original Swedish footballing trailblazer has just been offered a one-year contract extension to his existing deal at Manchester United football club, which will see him contracted until May 2018. One day prior to that, it was announced that a statue would be erected in his honor outside the Friend’s Stadium, in Stockholm, after collecting his 10th Swedish Footballer of the Year title, earlier this week in the last consecutive 11 years in a row.

At 35, the forward is considered the center piece of the Manchester United attack, netting 6 goals so far in only 11 appearances, excluding his goals in Pre-Season and his Charity shield goal against Leicester City, plus we really liked that one bicycle kick on his debut in the USA this summer. Not to mention those four goals against England, watch him here, with Swedish commentary over it, please “Enjoy” all his four goals, plus including that 40 yard over head kick goal, which still gives Joe Hart nightmares. Bloody brilliant!

Here's Zlatan reminding Hart of the goals, he scored against him. Hart sees the funny side of it.

In honor of this moment, the Statue will be placed right outside the Stadium where all this happened. A four-goal master class there by Zlatan (buy here) himself, against the England football team back in November of 2012. So, does he deserve his own statue? You damn right, he does! Ibrahimovic said about the statue, “It’s huge for me. Most people do not get a statue until they have passed away.” And, he added “After all the hard work for 15 years in the national team – and 20 in my club career – it feels like it is appreciated”.

The Head of the Swedish FA, Karl-Erik Nilsson said, “The statue is a way for us to thank Ibrahimovic for his amazing efforts for Swedish football, but it is also a symbol for everyone to always be reminded and inspired by all he has done.”

Additionally, Ibrahimovic after retiring from International football, had scored 62 goals in 116 matches for the national team and he also notched up 13 league titles winning a trophy every year since 2001, playing for teams such as Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG.

Tonight Manchester United face-off with Feyenord in a very important Europa League match at Old Trafford, which they must win and we look forward to seeing him up front and hopefully to get another goal in tonight. The match kicks off at 20:05pm and this is set to be a very entertaining match, as Feyenord need a win or a point to go further. It will be curtains for either side as whoever loses, Fenerbache are expected to beat Zorya at home comfortably, leaving Man United and Feyenord vying for the second spot in the group qualification.  Let’s hope Zlatan and Manchester United can get that win tonight; we know that we will definitely be watching this one. Brainstain! Over and out!

We predict a Manchester United win tonight with Zlatan to score. Order yourself an official Adidas “Zlatan” Manchester United FC Jersey, here.  And, remember to always look your best.
