Manchester United is one of the most famous, if not the most famous football club in the whole wide world, so their infatuation with one of the greatest footballers in the world, should come as no surprise, either. The Red Devils are still chasing Neymar Jr. from Barcelona and this Monday, reports in the Spanish Newspaper ‘Sport’ are speculating that Manchester United are ready to table up and meet his minimum release fee clause of €200 million (£173 million).
With Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid having recently said that he wishes to stay in Madrid, because of England’s terribly rainy weather, Jose Mourinho and Manchester United have reverted back to the dream of signing the Brazilian International, Neymar Jr. this summer, instead.
But, would Barcelona really let him leave? That is the question, as they seemingly had hoped to keep him, far beyond Lionel Messi leaving (not gonna’ happen) or retiring one day.
Neymar is 25-years-old and was on the weekend, hailed by AC Milan Defender legend, Alessandro Costacurta as being better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, so imagine if Manchester United manage to sign him this summer. He would automatically take the Manchester United number 10 shirt, when Wayne Rooney leaves this summer, plus pick up the proposed weekly wages of £416,000, which will net him a cool £21 million per annum, just for playing wages.
There’s obviously no need to ever consider a move to China, with such offers on the table from Manchester United being reported and Neymar could well and truly make the Red Devils into a formidable force again, with thoughts of him linking up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack, which would be truly devastating for opponents.
Provided that Manchester United qualify for the Champions League for next season, which means finishing in the top four or in winning the Europa League, then this deal might well go ahead.
Last week, Neymar said ‘The Premier League is a championship that amazes me. I like the playing style and the teams. And who knows, someday, I would like to play at it, yes. I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool — these are the teams that are always there fighting. And then you have high-level coaches like Mourinho and Guardiola. These are coaches with whom any player would like to work.”
So, that should set off alarm bells in the office of Jose Mourinho and at Manchester United, and that’s just what has happened.
So, we can dream of Neymar joining the Premier League side, can’t we? Let’s face it, but is it expensive?
Not really considering the fact that after a few weeks, the sales of his number “10” Manchester United shirt alone, would probably pay for the entire transfer fee in a few weeks time, if the deal is ever completed in this coming summer transfer window.
However, Chelsea are sniffing around too, so a possible bidding war with Manchester United for the Brazilian is on the cards, as well.
But, we believe that he doesn’t fit in with Chelsea’s playing style and we hope that Neymar would make the right choice if he ever comes to the EPL, next season.
So, fingers crossed that we get to see Neymar playing in the Premier League and if he does, surely Manchester United would suit him very nicely. Trigger that release clause, asap!
Brainstain, over and out!
