Now, how do you go and make the film franchise of The Mummy, any better? Well, you bring in esteemed and prestigious action hero and leading man expert, Tom Cruise and add the jingle of ‘Paint It Black’ by The Rolling Stones in the film trailer and voila! There you have it!
An exciting new take on the film franchise and it looks like they have truly saved the best for last. Let’s now have a look at the brand spanking new trailer for The Mummy, right here!
The film also stars Russell Crowe and it’s the fourth film in the modern series, which is set to storm past it’s predecessor films, with the original The Mummy film released in 1999 and it was followed by The Mummy Returns in 2001. Then, there was the spin-off film, ‘The Scorpion King’ starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in 2002, in the lead role.
The official synopsis of the new film, reads: “Though safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.”
Seemingly, there’s no end to the popcorn selling potential of The Mummy film franchise and when you add Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe, you know that they are very serious about this latest reboot in the series, because let’s face it, you don’t get much bigger than that. Talk about big budget goals!
The film is directed by Alex Kurtzman, who worked on the recent Star Trek films, combined with the screenwriting talents of Jon Spaiths, who wrote ‘Pacific Rim’ and ‘Prometheus’, respectively, so you sense that this isn’t just some old Hollywood throw together, at all…
Will you be parting with your hard-earned money to go watch this in the cinema? Well, if there ever was a The Mummy film to be seen in the cinema, then this would be it. This is that big summer blockbuster film that you have all been waiting for.
And, whatever people say about Tom Cruise, one thing that they can always expect to see is a solid performance from the undeniably ageless actor, who has a tireless work ethic, which is virtually unmatched by any of his competitors. Truly, Tom Cruise is in a league of his own and we are actually going to watch this one, when it’s released on the 9th of June this summer, since you can see that with such a large budget and with a script that makes Tom Cruise jump aboard, then surely this will come to be known as it’s very own original film; by the initial first looks of it, anyway.
The Mummy is back for another go!
Brainstain, over and out!
