A bomb has exploded around the Borussia Dortmund team bus ahead of their match against AS Monaco tonight in the Champions League and defender Marc Barta has been taken to hospital with a hand injury, after three explosions occurred in and around the team bus, whilst parked at their hotel, L’Arrivee.
Right now, there isn’t much known about the cause or who is involved in the incident, but is this a failed terrorist attack? What else could it be?
The devices went off and blew out the back windows of the bus, showering the back row of players in shards of glass.
Spanish central defender of BVB, Marc Bartra has been taken to hospital with a hand arm injury from the broken glass, it is still yet unclear as to the full-scale of the incident. But, here’s a photo of the team bus.
The football match between Borussia Dortmund vs. AS Monaco has been postponed until tomorrow night.
This is some shocking news and so far they do not know what caused it, if it was some mechanical failure, but the word “bomb” has already been mentioned including three devices have been reported as found. And, how many players were aboard the bus when these three devices exploded? However, it is unclear where the devices went off.
Thankfully, only one player was hurt, as the news reached the stadium, AS Monaco fans inside the WestfalenStadion, began shouting “Dortmund, Dortmund” in support and solidarity of what had happened to the team, just before the match was postponed due to the security breach.
This incident will no doubt have left the BVB team a bit shaken, as we wait to hear more information about what has really happened. At this point it even seems amazing that they will play in the match tomorrow, even though, nobody else was hurt apart from Marc Bartra. But, lets hope the game goes ahead tomorrow evening.
The DailyMail, reported: ‘According to current knowledge the disks of the bus (whole or partial) were broken and one person was injured’ ‘It is not yet possible to say exactly what the explosion was or exactly where something exploded.’
Borussia Dortmund tweeted form their official account:“At our bus departure, an incident has occurred. One person was injured. More information to follow”
Another Tweet said “A bomb exploded at the team bus next to the hotel. The players are safe. There is no danger at the stadium.”
We will now await to hear more news on the entire incident, presumably by tomorrow. This is seemingly a huge breach of security and the ramifications of it, could be rolled out from here. Come back for future updates to this article.
