If you grew up watching Nickelodeon during the 2000’s, then you’re bound to remember Drake & Josh. It was one of Nick’s most popular sitcoms, and adored by many viewers, both children and adults. So, that wasn’t a relationship between modern rap artist Drake and some guy called Jake, just FYI, for those not already in the know. Since you could have been confused. Who knows?
Anyway, the show finished in 2007, but the main stars, Drake Bell and Josh Peck, still remained friends after the show’s end. That is, until recently.
Josh recently married his long time girlfriend, Paige O’Brien. Shortly before the wedding, both Drake and Josh shared a throwback picture on Twitter of the pair back in their Nickelodeon days. However, Drake did not receive an invite to the big day.
Drake took to Twitter to express his anger and disappointment when he learned of the wedding, quoting:
“When you’re not invited to the wedding the message is clear…”
“True colors have come out today. Message is loud and clear. Ties are officially cut. I’ll miss you brotha,”
“Loyalty is key. ALWAYS remember where you came from,”
Drake has since removed those tweets, but many who grew up with the show are pretty devastated that their favourite childhood duo are no longer talking. Yet more proof that the American saying “bro’s before hoe’s” is just a horrible sham phrase from your High School days, since it really is…
Josh has not yet commented on the tweets. However, a source told UsWeekly that he found the tweets to be inappropriate since the pair have not spoken in over a year. The last time they were together was back in December 2015 on the set of Josh’s show, Grandfathered, which also stars John Stamos who attended the wedding, but Josh and Drake have not spent much time together since, hence why Drake was off the list.
“They would tweet each other back on social media a couple of times a year, but never actually spoke,” the source told UsWeekly.
“When Drake didn’t get invited to Josh’s wedding, he started tweeting all of those dramatic memes. Josh was really hurt. They aren’t close anymore and Josh had a very small wedding.”
Listening to both sides of the story, it’s very difficult to know who’s in the wrong, right? While the pair aren’t as close as they used to be, and haven’t been seen together for a while, Josh isn’t totally in the wrong for not inviting Drake. Since surely, this teenage television “Bromance” is well and truly over by now, perhaps?
However, it’s a little strange that they would both share the same picture on the day of the wedding. That, and whether they’re close or not, these guys have some TV history together, being the wackiest, funniest and coolest step brothers on Nickelodeon. It’s easy to see why Drake was hurt, but at the same time, it’s doubtful that Josh did it out of malice. You just have to be careful on who doesn’t make the list for your wedding, because it can be a real drama bomb these days.
We should know, since the term “Bridezilla” is obviously in the Urban Dictionary by now, have a read.
Hopefully in time, Drake will come to forgive Josh, and the two will rekindle their friendship. It would be a shame to let their relationship go to waste after all these years. After all, no one wants their childhood ruined, do they? All those memories, even though, life goes on…
