Industrial rock musician Marilyn Manson has let go of his long-time bassist Twiggy Ramirez after he had been accused of rape.
Twiggy (real name Jeordie White) was accused of rape by Jessicka Addams, the former lead singer of Florida band Jack Off Jill. Jessicka claims Twiggy assaulted her when they were in a relationship.
Manson took to Instagram to announce the news of Twiggy’s departure, adding “This is a sad day.” in the caption.
Jessicka explained the abuse through a long post on Facebook last Friday. Jessicka described Twiggy as being verbally, physically and sexually abusive towards her during their relationship more than 20 years ago.
At one point, she claimed she was raped by Twiggy following an argument, adding: “He forced me on to the floor with his hand around my neck. I said ‘no’. I said ‘no’.”
Unfortunately, Jessicka was unable to speak out on those claims at the time, as she was warned by her band’s record company that the reputation of Jack Off Jill could be tarnished by being blacklisted by concert promoters and losing their record deal.
She continued to date Twiggy throughout the 90’s, and her record label even convinced her to tour with Manson, as it would be best for her band. Clearly, her feelings and well-being weren’t considered at all.
“It’s never easy to tell the truth when you know how much backlash you’ll receive.” she continued. “But feeling guilt and shame about now knowing I am not my rapist’s only survivor has been an even worse albatross to bear.
News of the band no longer working with Twiggy was also announced on Twitter, and Jessicka thanked Manson for his decision.
Thank you. I am truly at a loss for words. https://t.co/asrHB2idNx

Twiggy Ramirez has not yet commented on the allegations.
Reading Jessicka’s post, sad to hear of all the abuse she endured and had to hide for all that time, but we’re happy she was finally able to speak out about it and get her story out there. We wish all the best for her.
