Notorious MMA fighter Conor McGregor stormed UFC 223 Media Day at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, with a group of thugs, and created chaos as he proceeded to attack a bus with a dolly, and managed to injure two UFC fighters in the process.
UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa was injured in the attack, suffering a cut to his face, and has now been ruled out of UFC 223 on Saturday night. Additionally, flyweight Ray Borg will also not be taking part in his fight against Brandon Moreno, due to “multiple cornea abrasions.”
Conor McGregor and his team were not scheduled to appear at Thursday’s press conference, but him and his team of thugs showed up anyway and pursued rivals in the Barclay Center’s loading dock. Let’s look at some videos of this incident from the moment before Conor McGregor even attacked, once they were let into the building.
Now for the view of the attack in much closer proximity, as was captured by other fighters’ teams’ in the loading dock of the Barclay Center in New York. This is surely a moment of madness from the Irish fighter, and people must surely be wondering what he was thinking?
In that video you could see the moment when Conor McGregor hurled the dolly through the window of the bus, which caused Michael Chiesa to suffer cuts to his face. Chiesa has had to pull out of his fight and tweeted:
”I’m devastated to say the least. @Showtimepettis I hope to run this match up ASAP, June 9th in your backyard. That’s all I have to say for now. Much love.’
And now for the incidents from another view – here’s another window being smashed by Conor McGregor at the Barclay Center.
Conor McGregor may have been upset that the UFC announced that he would be having his UFC lightweight belt taken from him on Saturday, pending the result of the bout between Max Holloway and Khabib Nurmagomedov, the latter of whom seemed to be the target of Conor McGregor’s rage.
Dana White made an announcement right after the attack on the buses, and said the following. Watch the two slides!
Conor McGregor and his posse ran from the event, but as was revealed by Dana White, he had a warrant out for his arrest. McGregor would later turn himself in, as his jet would have been unable to leave the airport.
McGregor has been charged with three counts of assault, and one wonders what the ramifications of this attack will be, both on his personal life and also fighting career with the UFC. This remains to be seen, but we suspect that Conor McGregor was not happy about having to give away his UFC lightweight belt. We will keep you updated on this story, as it develops.
