Cristiano Ronaldo Signs for Juventus in £100 Million Transfer

The very successful World Cup is now over in Russia, and now is when the transfer window is set alight with illustrious signings, and none is more illustrious than the signing by Juventus of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, in what some say is a cut price deal at £100 million.

As to the motivations behind the deal, it’s a no brainer for Juventus, as they will cash in on the footballing prowess, marketing magic of CR7, and overall transfer coup of landing the world’s best footballer. Whereas for Cristiano Ronaldo himself, it’s a natural progression for him to continue to win trophies, but this time out of Turin, not to mention the huge tax break that he will ensure after leaving the seemingly eager Spanish government that were adamant on grabbing a substantial piece of his massive fortune.

This was clearly some sort of targeting of Cristiano Ronaldo to the highest degree in which they said he owed unpaid image rights’ taxes, something which Cristiano Ronaldo opposed and denied ever not paying or needing to pay. That dispute had added to Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Real Mardid, but after winning the Champions League three years in a row, was there really anything more that he could achieve with Los Blancos?

In losing Ronaldo, this may now come back to bite Real Madrid in the backside, as The King (“El Rei”) has left the city of Madrid, and it will no doubt hurt them both on the pitch, as well as their popularity and the overall brand merchandising potential, sans CR7 being around.

Cristiano Ronaldo had his medical this Monday morning at the J Centre next to the Allianz Stadium in Turin, after nine successful seasons in the Spanish capital. At 17:30pm today, he is set to be unveiled by Juventus in an official press conference.

Hundreds of fans greeted Cristiano at the Allianz Stadium after earlier landing on his private jet in Turin, with Ronaldo later stopping to sign autographs for fans, some of whom were already wearing his number “7” shirt. Ronaldo responded by shouting to his fans, “Juve, Juve!”

The arrival of the 33-year old Portuguese star is like welcoming a modern day messiah or football god to their club, and as the press conference draws nearer, the realisation that Juventus have completed the signing of the world’s best footballer will finally start to sink in.

Now with Cristiano Ronaldo in their side, alongside players like Mario Mandzukic, Paolo Dybala and Douglas Costa, one wonders if Juventus will supersede Real Madrid in next season’s Champions League? We believe that Juventus will be a real threat next year after the arrival of CR7.
