Aladdin Movie Trailer Released with Will Smith as Genie

Aladdin 2019 Trailer

With so much serious news of late, it’s now welcome time to pay attention to Disney’s live action movie trailer for ‘Aladdin’ (2019), which was just released yesterday. And, in judging from the results, after much expectation had already been placed on the film, following in the footsteps of the popular 1992 animated film, from which it is adapted, no less, sans Robin Williams, thus all eyes were on this trailer.

However, this musical fantasy film adaptation may just be the thing to bring Will Smith’s acting career back up into the stratosphere. Disney faced backlash after Smith was cats in the role, but we have all been surprised before, and it does seem that “Big Will” may have gone some way to justify his casting in the film, after all, especially if this trailer is anything to by.

Directed by Guy Richie, Will Smith was the first to sign onto the cast as the ‘Genie’, with massive feet to fill in following Robin Williams epic voice performance of the same character back in Aladdin (1992), and this is sure to be a summer blockbuster in the vein of Disney films, when it is released in the USA on May 24th, 2019. Let’s take a look at the trailer, shall we?

Will Smith will come under plenty of scrutiny in reprising the role which was a focal point of many people’s childhoods’ and the main hope is that Smith can do the much loved story justice, and by the looks of it, who else could’ve taken on this role, if not for Will Smith.

The principles of photography began in September 2017, shooting in Longcross Studios in Surrey, with Mena Massoud in the role of Aladdin, and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, with location shoots in the Wadi Rum Desert in Jordan, wrapping shooting in January of 2018.

Could this Aladdin adaptation even go some way to break records in the animated adapted movie stakes? That remains to be seen, but with a budget of $175million, surely this film will still be big earner for Disney, as the summer blockbuster season kicks off again in late May.
