First Real Look at ‘Joker’ Teaser Trailer with Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix Joker

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, or you’ve simply been to busy to realize that the ‘Joker’ teaser trailer has been released, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the ‘Agent of Chaos’ in his early years, then you’ll be forgiven, and also be glad to know that you can watch it right here, with us!

Yes, in the DC comics universe and in the Batman genre, you most definitely always think of the Joker, as an equally important character, the Ying to Batman’s Yang, so to speak. But, none of those characters have had any film do them any justice in recent years, since Heath Ledger’s passing, after the magnificent 2008 film, ‘The Dark Knight.’

Ever since, back when Ben Affleck took on the role of the caped crusader, it didn’t quite fit, did it? Later on, both Gotham and the Arkam realm was followed with the calamitous Suicide Squad interpretation of everyone’s favourite comic book villain, in the Joker, which was completely obliterated beyond belief by the incredibly tacky casting of Jared Leto, with his cringeworthy performance.

Luckily, we can all forget about that now, sort of like forgetting that George Clooney ever played the Batman… (shudder)…

But, rather than being able to turn back time and just erase crap cinematic history, which would be really nice! However, it doesn’t quite work like that, but sure, we can all still be full of regret and remorse over the terrible casting, and the seriously crap films made by Hollywood over the years.

But instead, why not look at the bright side, as now there’s some good reasoning for the “do over’s”, the ‘remakes’ and or attempts at second chances in ‘spin-off’ films, or even in ‘prequels’, that do not actually – “visibly” suck, from the get-go…

Yes, and such is the case with Todd Phillips’ interpretation of the ‘Joker’, which will be welcome news for all DC comics, Batman and the Joker fans, but, there’s no sign of the Dark Knight here, and instead the story tells the story of the early years of the Joker. So, let’s take a look, shall we?

We can’t wait to see this film in the fall, and in hindsight, there could never be anybody better to rejuvenate the role of the Joker, than Joaquin Phoenix. Although, upon the announcement of the film even being made, it did raise quite a few eyebrows, that such a film was even going to come out, but now we seriously realize why, so as to make amends for failed previous efforts.

This time, Todd Phillips is the director and the co-writer of the screenplay, and you’ll be surprised to learn that he’s the man behind the crazy and funny films of ‘Old School’ and even ‘The Hangover’ trilogy, and also the stellar movie, ‘War Dogs’.

But, everyone should be allowed to show their aptitude for new things, which is evident in this trailer, which shows off a peculiar yet intrinsically morose and at times tragic vibe, which is balanced within what is described within the logline of the film, as the story of:

A failed stand-up comedian that’s driven insane and becomes a psychopathic murderer.’

Yes, a prequel for the Joker is making more sense by the minute, and the film’s reveal will surely unearth the true darkness not yet seen within the film’s teaser trailer, in order to shed more realism over the Joker’s legacy, and just as to how he grew to become everyone’s favourite comic book villain.

Well, that’s our hope for this film, and let’s all wish that it doesn’t disappoint us all. But, in judging from the trailer, this could very well breath new life into, not only the Joker, but also into potential new Batman films, as well. But, let’s not jump the gun, and let’s just all go see how this film turns out on October 4th, 2019.

Lastly, could there even be a hint to the Batman in the end of this film, hinting at another forthcoming sequel, sparking a new series? We definitely expect it… and we definitely hope there is… As these two characters really complete each other, after all.
